The Scilly Isles

We stayed in the beautiful Myrtle Cottage on St Agnes, an island in the Scilly Isles. We had an amazing time island hopping and having lots of clotted cream fueled sit downs.

If you want to see any of the pictures biggerer, click on them..

Below is picture of one of the bays on Bryher, I would say the most striking of the islands, it's got a very ominous bay called Hell's Bay which has Bad Place Hill at the top of it.

Below is one of the views from the sand bar that goes across to The Gugh from St Agnes. I had this all to myself this evening. Achingly beautiful and the photos just don't do it justice.

It's a PUFFIN!! I have a thing about Puffins. So here are a couple pics of them...

The birds, on all of the islands, are very tame.

Trescoe Abbey Gardens... Just one of the gorgeous vistas...

Our last sunset on the island...

  3. Mara! That is amazing! You lucky bean you! Which island? If I could move there tomorrow I would. sigh..

ancestral celt... Don't be jealous.. go! A few years ago we went and because it was just Leo and I we camped at a place called Troy Town on St Agnes... THE best camp site in the world, EVER! It is the very most South West part of the country and so you get amazing sunsets and can camp right up to the edge of the sea pretty much. Nice and quiet too. Lovely people go to camp on the Isles of Scilly, so you don't have to worry about the crazies making noise and that!

I really want to go back and spend some time camping at Troy Town and being alone for a week or so. A place very conducive to that.

  4. I'm afraid I am limited to travelling once a year - don't ask; long story. So, I am sticking to the northern end of our island for the moment. Going on a tour of Orkney & Shetland in July with Megalithic Tours.

  5. Now I'm jealous!! I have never been to the islands and they're the only places I want to get to. I checked out the website and it looks like you'll have a very interesting experience, I hope you have an amazing time.

  6. I lived on Tresco one year, and worked in the garden cafe and at the New Inn. It was a lovely experience :) The, during the winter I lived in a little flat on St Mary's. The next year I worked on St Mary's, then at the Island hotel on Tresco.

Oh, I would so love to go back - it's a magical place!

    :) xx
